Lovely ball of bees in the bush. Was very quiet so put as many as I could into the nuc box and sat back and waited. They were really chilled and docile. I had Ellie with me, once again who was fearless!!! Bees had come from a very well established colony in the wall nearby that produces a swarm every year. This one we actually left till dark to come down so it was a late evening pick up.
Great example of a docile swarm and the use of the multi functional swarm nuc boxes.

Settled into a poly nuc that evening and were bringing in nectar within the week!!. Marked the Queen with a green dot once I had seen signs of laying.
TIP: Don’t mark your queens from a swarm too early. There is a good chance that the swarm contains a virgin and a marked virgin is easier for the hungry birds to spot.
